Asian Overland Odyssey: A Photographic Journey Through Cultures and Conflicts
This photographic work draws inspiration from a 1970s UN project that envisioned a continuous railway line from Istanbul to Singapore. The aim was to foster cooperation and integration on political, economic, and social levels among diverse populations divided by borders. The project never came to fruition due to numerous conflicts that erupted over the years. Travelling along this proposed route, one encounters numerous regional wars, traditional social and religious customs clashing with the growing complexity of the modern world. Like Odysseus, the archetypal traveller who never quite reaches his final destination, this journey is fraught with detours, interruptions, and emotional and physical pitfalls.
